Tiptree Scorpions 8 Beacon Hill Rovers 0

A theme of Rovers play this season is a second half collapse. It has happened too many times to be a coincidence. If Rovers don’t score in the first half then recovery seems impossible!

Tiptree took the lead with their first attack on 2 minutes, loose play on the left let the Tiptree player in for a sharp finish giving Ellis no chance. It was then all Rovers who pressed for the rest of the first half, Moakes and O’Brien had trouble with the offside trap and were both flagged time after time. Moakes had a great strike just wide. O’Brien was tripped as he was breaking through to shoot and the resultant free kick was saved. Corners came and went but no real pressure was put on in the six yard box. At half time and1-0 down Rovers were comfortable and expecting to get back into this game.

Second half kick off and again Rovers went straight behind only one minute in on the left hand side, a very similar goal with the wide left player picking up a good switch from the right.

Rovers consolidated for a short while, S.Facey was brought down heavily, a Tiptree player was booked for dissent, but on 57 minutes the floodgates opened. Tiptree scored their third, fifth and sixth goals from corners, clearly something to work on here for Rovers!

Christmas had come early for Tiptree as the Rovers players could find little resistance or response. Let’s see what 2007 holds!
