Silver End U13 Girls 6 - Beacon Hill U13 Girls 2

Beacon Hill U13 Girls were away to Silver End playing their first friendly against a girls team.
The game kicked off in wintry conditions with Silver End fielding only 8 players nevertheless they cut through the defence who were still settling into the game and scored within minutes. Beacon Hill recovered themselves well, but minutes later Silver End scored a second, and although making some excellent movement down both flanks they were caught several times by the offside trap. Whilst Silver End were busy celebrating their third goal, Beacon Hill siezed the opportunity with a great attack which led to a good save by their keeper, minutes later another counter attack from Beacon Hill led to a goal mouth scramble but unfortunatley not a goal. This time it was Silver Ends turn to counter attack with a long pass up the field and another goal followed swiftly by a fifth. Although five nil down the girls continued to show great spirit with Gemma hitting the cross bar and Hannah and Becky having shooting chances it was only a matter of time.

The second half saw Beacon Hill have more of the possesion and finally convert one of those darting runs from Gemma who scored a fantastic first goal for the club after some excellent passing from the midfield. Continued pressure from Beacon Hill in the Silver End box resulted in two Silver End players handling the ball in the area - the first penalty went just wide, but the second was converted by April who cooly slotted it into the bottom right hand corner. As Silver End started to tire Beacon Hill made changes and continued to work hard until the final whistle having not conceeded in the second half.

This was a fine performance from Beacon Hill girls in only their third ever match, which was against a much more experienced side with over 20 games played.

The Under 14 Girls will be joining the league this season.
