	MAGNIFICENT BEACON HILL RESERVES WIN COUNTY TROPHY!

	Going into this, the final of the Essex County Saturday Junior Trophy, the statistics made grim reading for any Rovers fan. Since the semi-final the Reserves had won only one game in ten to find their Division Four promotion chase faltering. In contrast St. Clere's came to the final having won their last five games, a run which had seen them rise to the top of Division One. Neither did history hold any reassurance - only once since the club was established in 1921 had a team made it this far, losing in the final of the Essex Junior Cup 60 years ago. Yet far from being a one-sided encounter, the match was enthralling. After an early setback Beacon's defence regrouped and came to dominate the St. Clere's forward line - Kev Lee in particular was simply superb. Hill's midfield, inspired by the outstanding Adam Ratcliffe, harried, hustled and harangued incessantly and Beacon's forwards chased everything and closed down continually. When Ratcliffe's first goal floated in, belief seemed to set in. When, with five minutes to go in extra time, his second hit the net delirium took over players and fans alike. To St. Clere's it was a knock-out blow to which they had no answer.
