Firsts win in extra time amid weekend of washouts

Of the weekend's nine scheduled matches, only the men's first team game against Byfleet Rangers in the Strachan Cup escaped the waterlogging. Cup holders Byfleet took the lead on 15 minutes and Hill remained on the back foot for most of the half; the score only remained 0-1 due to an excellent save from stand-in 'keeper, Dave Shelley. In the second half Hill began to get into the game and drew level when Micky Carabine finished with a powerful header at the near post. 5 minutes into extra time Anthony Canty capped a fine display when his free kick beat the Byfleet 'keeper and put Hill through to the next round.
