Ladies retain European trophy

During this year's end of season tour, Beacon Hill's Ladies team won the Holland Stores F & SC ODP Toernooi competition in Amsterdam for the second year in succession. Opponents included a tricky Niemand side and TZVW from Bremstraat, but it was a last minute winner against a strong Nat maar gelukkig team that effectively secured the trophy. Gerrit Hinderink, the Toernooicommissie (tournament organiser) praised their performance after the game as he said, "Resst mij U allen een gezellig en hopelijk zonnig ODP toernooi te wensen". Representatives from the men's teams joined the ladies in The Netherlands' capital with an eclectic mix of players. For the first time in Beacon's tour history, the men entered two tournaments - an eleven aside competition on arrival and a six aside the following day. With only one loss from nine games over the weekend, the men (augmented by some superb ladies players) left a positive mark on the "Venice of the North" once more.
